What is Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT)?

Q.When can I take the prenatal DNA test?

seeDNA's prenatal DNA testing is available from the 7th week of pregnancy. Testing is also possible at 6 weeks of pregnancy, but an additional fee of 33,000 yen will be charged. The premium plan, which includes a disease risk test (NIPT), requires blood collection from 10 weeks of pregnancy.

Yes, at seeDNA, you can take a disease risk test (NIPT) for an additional 25,000 yen on top of the prenatal DNA test. The test targets aneuploidy of all chromosomes (1 to 22) and sex chromosome abnormalities, including Down syndrome (Trisomy 21), Edwards syndrome (Trisomy 18), and Patau syndrome (Trisomy 13). No additional specimens or test period extensions are required. There is also a system to cashback half of the definitive diagnosis cost in case of a high-risk judgment (3).

Yes, it is possible. The standard specimen is oral epithelium collected with a dedicated swab, but we also accept special specimens such as toothbrushes, cigarette butts, hair, and nails. Since automatic extraction cannot be used for special specimens and manual work is required, an additional fee and a period extension of about 2 days will occur.
