ImageThe Most Accurate Next-Generation
Fetal Gender DNA Test

Image

Generally, fetal gender determination is possible from around 16 weeks of pregnancy using ultrasound at an obstetrics and gynecology clinic.
In contrast, seeDNA's Next-Generation Fetal Gender Test can provide the most accurate gender determination as early as 6 weeks of pregnancy.

Confirming the fetal gender in the early stages of pregnancy allows for more time to prepare for childbirth, ensuring a peaceful and fulfilling maternity life.

This is the world's first genetic test that reveals not only the gender of the unborn baby but also their genetic tendencies for traits and constitutions.
Testing available from 6 weeks of pregnancy!
You don't have to wait until birth to meet your baby.
Make your maternity life more enjoyable by preparing for childbirth and planning childcare tailored to your baby's traits, constitution, and gender!*1

The results obtained from this test are only for the genetic regions that can be analyzed from the fetal DNA obtained from maternal blood.
Therefore, we report genetic tendencies for 30 to 50 items out of 88 test items.
Please note that you cannot specify the test items.

seeDNA遺伝医療研究所ロゴアイコンDiscover Disease Risks

Along with the gender of your baby, how about checking for the risk of genetic diseases caused by chromosomal abnormalities?
With our test, you can simultaneously check for genetic disease risks like Down syndrome in a single test, without the high costs charged by other companies.
If your pregnancy is at 10 weeks or more on the scheduled blood collection date, you can apply for the following tests at the same time as the gender test.
There is no need for additional blood submission or any extension of the testing period to add Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT).

■ Genetic Diseases Detectable by Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT)*1

*1: This is not a definitive diagnosis like amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling performed at hospitals, but a screening test conducted as clinical research by seeDNA.
The risk for specific genetic diseases such as Down syndrome is judged as "High Risk," "Low Risk," or "Judgment Pending."
■ A "High Risk" result means the risk of the disease is high, not that the fetus definitively has the disease.
■ A "Low Risk" result means the risk of the disease is low, not that the fetus definitively does not have the disease.
■ "Judgment Pending" means the risk could not be determined.

& Definitive Diagnosis Cost Assistance

If judged as high risk by Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT), we will provide half the cost of the definitive diagnosis received at a medical institution and the cost of counseling with a specialized counselor or genetic specialist as a cashback. *1

*1: Submission of the definitive diagnosis report and receipt is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.What is a fetal gender test? How is it different from an ultrasound test?

A.
''The fetal gender test (gender genetic test) is a test that analyzes the fetal DNA contained in maternal blood during pregnancy using a next-generation sequencer to identify sex chromosomes (X/Y).'' While obstetrics and gynecology ultrasound tests determine gender based on the shape of external genitalia from around 16 weeks of pregnancy, seeDNA's gender test determines gender at the genetic level from 6 weeks of pregnancy, allowing gender confirmation about 10 weeks earlier with high accuracy (1).

Q.From which week of pregnancy can I take the test? When will the results arrive?

A.
''Testing is possible from 6 weeks of pregnancy, and results are notified in as little as 4 business days.'' Blood collection is supported at over 300 affiliated medical institutions nationwide, and the round-trip shipping fee for the test kit is free via expedited shipping. However, the premium plan with NIPT (disease risk testing) is available from 10 weeks of pregnancy onwards.

Q.Can I check disease risks like Down syndrome at the same time as the gender test?

A.
Yes, it is possible. If the pregnancy duration on the scheduled blood collection date is 10 weeks or more, you can take ''NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing) at the same time without the need for additional blood submission or any extension of the testing period.'' The target diseases are 8 diseases including Down syndrome (Trisomy 21), Edwards syndrome (Trisomy 18), and Patau syndrome (Trisomy 13) (3). If judged as high risk, there is a cashback system that covers half of the definitive diagnosis cost and counseling cost.

Q.What can be found in the trait and constitution genetic test?

A.
''We analyze the genetic tendencies of 87 traits and talents using fetal DNA obtained from maternal blood.'' The test items include mathematical ability, memory, physical ability (explosive power/stamina), musical ability, height, bone density, and sleep duration. Because the analysis is limited to regions that can be analyzed from fetal DNA derived from maternal blood, it will be a report of 30 to 50 items out of 88 items.

Q.How about the accuracy and guarantee system of the test?

A.
seeDNA performs ''100% double checks (analyzed twice) at our ISO9001 certified domestic in-house laboratory, and has maintained a record of zero misjudgments since the start of testing in 2016'' (2). If DNA damage in the sample or shipping accidents occur, we will perform a free retest including round-trip shipping costs. In the unlikely event of an incorrect result, we will fully refund the testing fee. Expedited round-trip shipping, installment payment fees, and deferred payment fees are all free, and no additional costs will be incurred.
