About Ancestral Roots (Ethnicity) Analysis
In databases such as gnomAD, characteristic DNA (allele frequency) observed in specific ethnicities constitutes 80% to 90% or more, while in other ethnicities it exists only at low frequency. Alternatively, ethnicity identification is performed by analyzing the characteristics of DNA that have low allele frequency in specific ethnicities and high frequency in others.
When a DNA region is supported by papers or literature as being specific to a particular ethnicity, it is prioritized. About 20 DNA regions are extracted for each ethnicity, making a total of about 220 DNA regions analyzed to calculate the composition ratio of each ethnicity.
