DNA Testing using Fetal Cells
after Abortion
This is a DNA test to confirm biological relationships using fetal cells (extracted tissue) etc. after an abortion procedure.
Paternity testing is performed by comparing the fetal DNA with the mother's DNA and the DNA of the potential father.
The main fetal specimens used for testing are as follows:
- ・Chorionic villi (early abortion)
- ・Placenta, umbilical cord (mid-term abortion)
- ・Amniotic fluid (during pregnancy)
In addition, the mother's buccal epithelial cells and the potential father's buccal epithelial cells will be collected using dedicated cotton swabs.
(If it is difficult to collect buccal epithelial cells, testing is also possible with toothbrushes, hair, etc.)

Precautions for DNA Testing using Fetal Cells
after Abortion
・This testing method carries a risk of maternal DNA contamination. In tests conducted by our company, contamination has been observed in approximately 4-5% of cases.
・Regarding the storage of fetal cells (extracted tissue) from abortion surgery and handover to our company, please consult with the medical institution performing the surgery in advance.
・We will explain the details upon inquiry. If you are considering this test, please contact us before placing an order.
