The results simply take too long to come out. I requested a prenatal DNA test.
As mentioned in reviews on the site, even though it says "results in 9 to 14 days," it seems many people don't actually find out the results until the very last day.

Since weekends and holidays aren't counted as testing days, I waited and waited for over three weeks while suffering from morning sickness, only to be told on the very last day of the reporting period that a "re-test" was needed. I was told the re-test rate is about 5%, but since I know other people who also needed a re-test, I really have to wonder — is it really only 5%?

Apparently expedited processing is applied to re-tests, but the cost of the blood draw itself is out of pocket. Since the judgment came right before a holiday stretch, it seemed that even with the fastest possible expedited re-test, it would still take at least 11 days including the weekend before results came out.
Resigning myself to the fact that the report clearly wasn't going to come on the first day of the expected period, it looked like it would take about two more weeks...

If the result was going to require a re-test, I wish I could have known sooner. I never imagined it would take this long. And I was in a hurry for the results...

We are sorry for the delay in responding.
This is the Customer Support team at seeDNA Co., Ltd.

Thank you very much for using our testing service and for taking the time to share your feedback.
We sincerely apologize for the anxious time you experienced due to the re-test coinciding with the holiday period.

We are sorry that we did not explain clearly enough why there can be a range in the reporting date for results.
In order to prevent any possible testing errors, we perform every parent-child DNA test twice — with no additional fee and no need to resubmit a sample — which means that even with expedited testing, the testing time alone inevitably ranges from 4 to 8 business days. We appreciate your understanding.

We are truly sorry for the inconvenience caused by the need for a re-test.
The reason for a re-test is not a testing error; rather, the amount of fetal DNA present in the mother's blood varies significantly from person to person, and even at the same number of weeks of pregnancy, if the amount of fetal DNA is low, an accurate result cannot be obtained, making a re-test necessary in some cases.
Based on our track record of more than 7,000 tests to date, 95% of customers at 7 weeks of pregnancy or later receive an accurate result from their first test. However, because we are unable to report results until testing is fully complete, this can result in the outcome only being communicated on the very last day of the reporting deadline.
Please also note that in the case of a re-test, we cover not only the testing fee but also the round-trip express shipping cost for the test kit, free of charge. However, the blood draw fee must be paid to the hospital directly, so this cost is borne by the customer. We appreciate your understanding on this point.

Thank you again for taking the time to share such valuable feedback with us.
We will continue to take our customers' feedback seriously and work to improve our service, including how we communicate reporting dates and the possibility of re-testing, as well as improving testing speed.
