This is an email from a customer who used our DNA parentage test.
On November 7, 2020, we received the following email from a customer in Osaka Prefecture.
Thank you for your assistance.
Thank you for the test report.
I have three questions about the results.
First, since the probability of paternity was 0%, does this mean the report was made after a double check?
Second, regarding the collection of the samples, since I collected them while my small child was asleep, I was worried about whether they were properly collected. Does the fact that a result was obtained mean that there were no problems with the collection or the way the samples were stored?
Third, regarding the test data in the results report, in the case of a 99.99% probability of paternity, for every item either X or Y is the same number, and in the case of 0%, there are several items where neither X nor Y matches. Is my understanding correct?
Looking at the data, it seems to me that there is only a slight difference, so is it still 0%?
In the case of 99.99%, is there not even a slight difference?
That is all. I apologize for the trouble, but I would appreciate your response.
◆◆◆Our Company's Response◆◆◆
> First question
Yes.
To eliminate the possibility of a human judgment error due to sample mix-ups, a separate examiner performs a double check before we make our report.
> Second question
If the amount of DNA required for the test is insufficient, a re-examination is necessary and we ask for the samples to be resubmitted. As you understand, the fact that a test result was obtained means that DNA was successfully extracted from the samples without any problems.
> Third question
> Looking at the data, it seems to me that there is only a slight difference, so is it still 0%?
> In the case of 99.99%, is there not even a slight difference?
The report notes that XY indicates male and XX indicates female.
As you understand, at every locus, if either one is the same number it is judged an "affirmative result," and if there are multiple items where neither number matches it is judged a "negative result."
