This is an email from a customer who used our prenatal gender determination service.

On July 24, 2020, we received an email with the following content from a customer in Osaka Prefecture.

Thank you for your continued support.
The other day, I requested fetal gender determination through prenatal DNA testing at your company
and received a determination that it was the long-awaited baby girl.
Thank you very much for the test this time.

May I ask a question about the test results?
This time, I had a blood test done and requested the determination right after entering the 7th week of pregnancy,
but if I had requested it at a later stage of pregnancy, is there a possibility that the result would have been different?
The statement in your company's report that a non-specific Y chromosome cannot be completely ruled out made me anxious.
Also, as stated on your homepage, is it truly certain that your company has never once made a determination error?

I apologize for troubling you during your busy schedule, and I would be grateful if you could reply.

We provided the following response by phone.

First, please rest assured that there has never been a single determination error in the prenatal gender determination we perform.

Next, regarding whether the result changes as the number of weeks of pregnancy increases: in our prenatal gender determination,
we confirm in every test not only the presence or absence of SNPs derived from the sex chromosomes, but also whether SNPs derived from the autosomes can be detected without issue.

Therefore, in this test, under conditions where SNPs derived from the autosomes and the X sex chromosome are detected without issue,
only the SNPs of the Y chromosome are specifically not detected, and so the fetus is determined to be female.
