Summary of the English Article
seeDNA is a Japanese DNA testing company that provides prenatal fetal DNA testing (hereafter, NIPPT).
Unlike conventional postnatal paternity testing, the company's NIPPT can be performed from the 7th week of pregnancy and can identify the fetus's biological father by analyzing just 20ml of the mother's blood.
The company's testing uses proprietary technology capable of detecting minute allele frequencies in the 0.5-1% range, and has performed more than 7,500 NIPPT tests to date with over 99.9% accuracy.
According to Kihwan Boo Kim, CEO of seeDNA, this technology is expected to be applied in the future to tests that assess fetal health and genetic disorders. The company also serves as a technology provider to help other companies offer NIPPT services, and provides DNA analysis outsourcing as well.
Furthermore, seeDNA plans to offer genetic testing services, which will include screening for various genetic diseases, conditions such as cancer, health risks and physical constitution, as well as tests to determine parent-child and blood relationships. This service aims to be widely used as a tool to reduce the stigma associated with DNA testing and to further strengthen family health management and parent-child bonds.
seeDNA has obtained the international quality standard ISO9001 and the Privacy Mark for personal information protection, and is a member of the Association for Genetic Information Handling. Aiming to expand into overseas markets, including the United States, the company is also pursuing internationally recognized certifications such as AABB and CAP.
These ethical initiatives have earned the trust of physicians and DNA testing users around the world.
